Business Wire, June 6, 1995
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1995--ISOCOR, the leading provider of open client-server messaging products, introduced its ISOCOR Directory Services product family in Amsterdam Tuesday at the annual meeting of the European Electronic Messaging Association (EEMA).
The comprehensive suite of software applications includes client tools for Microsoft Windows and MAPI, Directory Synchronization gateways for Lotus' cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail, Administrative Tools for directory management and Import/Export Utilities for linking of directory servers with corporate databases. The entire suite of products runs over a variety of communications media, including TCP/IP and the worldwide Internet.
The major components of the ISOCOR Directory Services product family include:
-- ISOPLEX DS, a full-featured, high-performance Directory
Server capable of maintaining a large number of entries;
-- The Navigator, a Windows-based management tool that gives the
administrator complete control over the directory environment;
-- ISOGATE for cc:Mail, an E-mail gateway and directory-
synchronization package;
-- ISOGATE for Microsoft Mail, which, like the cc:Mail package,
will run on MS Windows;
-- ISOGATE DS, a comprehensive link between the directory system
and Oracle databases;
-- ISOPLEX DS Import/Export Utility, which can transfer
information between X.500 and corporate information stores
such as in-house-developed E-mail address books;
-- MAPIWARE X.500 SPI, a Service Provider Interface module for
the Windows desktop based on Microsoft's Extended MAPI
architecture and utilizing Directory Access Protocol (DAP)
over TCP/IP and dial-up on standard desktop and portable PCs;
and
-- ISOPLEX DS APIs, a set of interface libraries for
programmatic integration of end-user and commercial
applications with the directory environment.
Applications for ISOCOR Directory Services include large corporate and government organizations, Value-Added Network providers and PTTs who can utilize the ISOCOR software as the basis for new Directory Services offerings across their existing messaging backbones and public services.
The object-oriented structure of the products allows the directory to act as a distributed repository for E-mail addresses, EDI and Electronic Commerce routing information, key information and related critical data. It works in conjunction with ISOCOR's ISOPLEX Message Servers as well as with E-mail products from Lotus and Microsoft.
ISOCOR Directory Services products are available for ordering now from ISOCOR and Authorized ISOCOR Resellers worldwide. Contact your ISOCOR representative for pricing and specific platform availability. The ISOPLEX DS server is offered on SCO UNIX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX and HP/UX. The product may also be ordered from AT&T/GIS for the MP-RAS platform under the AT&T Enterprise Messaging name.
Supports JPEG for ``Visual Browsing'' of Directory Entries
The powerful Navigator administrative tool allows the network manager to create, maintain and update the directory system from a Windows PC. The Navigator supports on-screen import and export of graphical objects including JPEG images depicting E-mail users and other essential images.
This allows users to ``visually browse'' a particular directory to find a person without having his or her full name -- once the photo of the appropriate person is found, his or her E-mail address can be pulled out of his or her directory record and used to transmit E-mail, EDI and other electronic business documents to that person.
The ISOCOR Directory Products can be used across the Internet and virtually any corporate internetwork using TCP/IP and/or OSI protocols. Clients and servers may also communicate using the X.445 Asynchronous Protocol Specification (APS) over ordinary dial-up modems. The products are compliant with the prevailing X.500 and related standards worldwide.
ISOCOR is a leading international provider of state-of-the-art solutions for open messaging and business-document interchange utilizing Internet protocols, OSI/X.400/X.500 and related technologies. ISOCOR products are sold and supported by ISOCOR worldwide through 120-plus resellers and systems integrators worldwide. -0-
