Open Environment Corporation Announces Product Name Change

Business Wire, March 21, 1995

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1995-- Open Environment Corporation today announced it will no longer use the product name Encompass. Effective immediately, the existing Open Environment product family will be marketed under the name Entera .

According to Marshall Toplansky, senior vice president, sales and marketing, the name change decision is consistent with significant technology advances at Open Environment.

The name Encompass served the company well for a period of time, but now we are poised to introduce a new generation of Open Environment software products that improve the capabilities of our software solutions. This is a perfect time to secure a new brand name, Toplansky said.

Entera is an open enterprise architecture and product set that enables seamless integration of different hardware and software across all organizational boundaries. It is one of the first products to overcome the major roadblocks hindering widescale acceptance of the Distributed Computing Environment (DCE).

Founded in 1993, Boston-based Open Environment Corporation is a leading provider of three-tiered client/server software that enables rapid, low risk application development across all computing platforms.
