ROADMASTER INDUSTRIES, INC. HUTCH SPORTS, USA UNIT ACQUIRES SPORTING GOODS DIVISION OF FORSTER MANUFACTURING COMPANY; Backyard and Lawn Game Products to Offset Hutch Unit's Seasonality

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1995--Roadmaster Industries, Inc. (NYSE Symbol:RDM) today announced that its Hutch Sports, USA unit has completed the acquisition of the sporting goods division of Wilton, Maine-based Forster Manufacturing Company. The product categories acquired include various backyard and lawn games, including croquet, bocce ball and volleyball, each categories in which Forster has significant market share. Forster's fiscal 1994 revenues were approximately $11 million.
"These product categories complement Hutch's fall and winter seasonality and provide early spring business that will be helpful in strengthening Hutch's performance in the first quarter of the year," said Hutch Sports, USA President Garry Kamstra. Roadmaster President and Chief Executive Officer Henry Fong added, "In addition to enhancing Hutch's performance, Forster, which has gross margins exceeding 20%, supports management's initiatives to increase overall Company margins in 1995."
Roadmaster is one of the largest manufacturers of bicycles and is a leading producer of fitness equipment, toys, team sports and camping equipment. The trademarks or brand names under which Roadmaster sells its products include Roadmaster, Flexible Flyer, Vitamaster, MacGregor, Weather-Rite American Camper, Remington, DP, Hutch and Reach.
