Pantone announces licensing of Fiery Color Servers; EFI will resell PANTONE ColorDrive option for all Fierys
Business Wire, March 28, 1995
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 1995--Pantone, Inc. announced today the Pantone licensing of Electronic for Imaging's (NASDAQ:EFII) Fiery(R) Color Servers.
Pantone licensing assures the highest accuracy and flexibility in the digital color output of PANTONE Library Colors. The two companies also announced an agreement that allows EFI to resell PANTONE(R) ColorDrive(TM) along with the Fiery-specific CMYK data for use with the Fiery and Fiery XJ(TM) product families.
"Fiery and PANTONE are industry icons for quality color output, and the combination of these products is formidable," said Richard Herbert, vice president of Pantone's Electronic Color Systems division. "Pantone is excited by the opportunity to work with EFI to offer quality PANTONE Colors to an even broader color market."
PANTONE ColorDrive allows Fiery users to use PANTONE Library Colors across all major software applications. Users begin with device specific CMYK tables generated by EfiColor(R), EFI's color management software. PANTONE ColorDrive then allows the user to save these files in application-specific formats. "PANTONE ColorDrive brings calibrated, standardized PANTONE Color palettes to Fiery customers," said Jeff Lenches, EFI's executive vice president. "Pantone licensing helps EFI meet our customers demand for being able to print colors specified in the Pantone system."
EFI's Fiery and Fiery XJ are networked color servers that convert all leading color copiers to high-speed color printers through its groundbreaking technology. The Fierys provide customers with photo-quality output at faster speeds and substantially lower costs than desktop color printers. EFI will provide PANTONE(R) ColorDrive(TM) as an option to current Fiery customers in April, 1995 for a suggested price of $149.
