NPA announces Compaq sponsorship; Industry leading computing company to provide latest technology to network professionals

PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1995--The Network Professional Association (NPA) Monday announced that Compaq Corp. of Houston, has signed an agreement with the NPA to become a vendor sponsor of the Association.

This agreement marks the inclusion of most major hardware manufacturers as sponsors of the NPA.

"For the NPA to continue to provide the latest technologies to our members, we must constantly seek new alliances with key industry leaders like Compaq," said Berkeley Geddes, president of the NPA. "This new sponsorship agreement exemplifies our ability to deliver industry-leading technology to our members, the network professionals."

As part of the Compaq sponsorship agreement, the NPA will receive Compaq ProLiant and ProSignia servers to help expand its Hands-On Technology Labs(TM). Compaq will also participate to incorporate its Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE) Program in the NPA's multivendor professional certification initiative.

"NPA members in the U.S. and in other parts of the world have been requesting technical training to help them integrate Compaq hardware in the network environment," added Geddes. "This sponsorship will enable us to expand that training to Association members around the world."

The NPA board of directors voted to allow Compaq ASE certified individuals to join the Association as full members. The vote came as a result of a proposal from the NPA's Certification Review Council recommending that ASE be recognized. Compaq is the latest vendor to sponsor the Association, joining APC, Banyan, Blue Lance, Cheyenne, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Lotus, McAfee, Microsoft, Novell and SkyTel.

The NPA is a self-regulating, non-profit association of network computing professionals that sets standards of technical expertise and professionalism. The NPA delivers on its mission of advancing the network computing profession by keeping its 10,000 members current with the latest technology advancements.
