YMCA of the USA selects ConQuest for Information Desk
Business Wire, May 2, 1995
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1995--ConQuest Software Inc., the leading provider of advanced text management solutions, Tuesday announced that its plain English, word meaning-based software will drive the YMCA of the USA's newly created Information Desk.
By streamlining access to information about YMCA programs and facilities, as well as newsletters, Medical Advisory Committee Recommendations, White Papers and other publications, the YMCA of the USA will improve its customer service to its local organizations, and enable its research and planning professionals to focus on consulting, development and strategic planning activities.
The Information Desk, using ConQuest's Windows graphical interface and networked architecture, will initially be implemented within the Research and Planning department at the YMCA's headquarters in Chicago. Future plans include dial-up and/or Internet access.
"We evaluated a number of software packages for this product, and ConQuest emerged as the clear winner," noted Charles Firke, associate director of Research and Planning for the YMCA of the USA. "What really sold us on ConQuest was its superb search and retrieval performance. With ConQuest's semantic knowledgebase, our users can enter plain English queries and retrieve relevant documents."
"ConQuest is delighted to be providing the solution for an innovative, online information system which will greatly improve the productivity of the YMCAs Research and Planning department," said John McGrath, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for ConQuest. "We look forward to working with the Y as they expand the system to their local organizations and other users."
