Tekelec advances its ATM testing capabilities; complete set of ATM service layer analysis tools unfolded
Business Wire, May 31, 1995
CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 1995--Tekelec (Nasdaq/NM:TKLC) today announced the release of software enhancements to its ATM Application Module for the Chameleon Open. The new software release positions the Chameleon Open as the first protocol analyzer to deliver complete ATM LAN interworking analysis (RFC 1577, RFC 1483, ATM Forum LAN emulation) and native LAN analysis for Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI.
Key features of this latest release include analysis for LAN Interworking; ILMI; OAM (Operations Administration and Maintenance); and Q.2931 and Q.93B UNI signalling. It also provides cell transfer delay (CTD) testing.
In combination with the Chameleon Open's existing solutions for cell, AAL and service layer testing, this software release provides a complete ATM LAN/WAN internetwork testing solution. The basic OAM network monitoring and QoS feature also expand the ATM performance testing aspects of the Chameleon Open.
Ted Butch, Tekelec's ATM Product Manager said, "As ATM networks are deployed, they need to interwork with existing legacy LANs. The combination of this latest software release, with its support for all forms of ATM LAN interworking, and the Chameleon Open's existing Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI capabilities, give users a comprehensive tool for testing their entire network."
Butch added, "We are seeing a tremendous growth in the shift from permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) to switched virtual circuits (SVCs) and thus the need for more signalling diagnostic capabilities."
The Chameleon Open provides a flexible open architecture for simultaneous testing of LAN, WAN and Broadband networks and applications on one system. Its growing family of applications modules include, among others, SMDS, Frame Relay, X.25, ISDN PRI, Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI.
The ATM Application Module sells for $20,000 (U.S. List). Tekelec's existing ATM Application Module customers receive these new enhancements free of charge.
