Caldera Network Desktop for Internet Access Preview One released; Thousands of Preview Program participants test-drive the first of two preview versions of Caldera's LINUX-based network desktop

OREM, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 1995--Caldera Inc., the company who is delivering Linux for business, will fulfill thousands of orders for Preview One of its Network desktop for Internet Access today. The product, announced earlier this year, has attracted the interest of a growing world-wide community of Internet, corporate, and traditional developers, as well as ISVs and the UNIX community of users. Program Participants span government, education and scientific industries as well as commercial business.

Caldera is built on the philosophy of leveraging the collaborative power of the Internet to deliver a robust solution at an inexpensive price. Traditional distributions of LINUX have merely bundled the product onto a CD (etc.) for easy accessibility, however, Caldera is actually adding value to LINUX in the form of commercial interfaces and network services. Additionally, the preview brings a full-featured graphical user interface and tools to LINUX's traditional UNIX-based environment. The Previews and final product will be available commercially, along with the source code to the kernel, with enhancements to the LINUX kernel being given back to the Internet community.

The cost to receive both Previews within the US is $29.00 plus shipping and handling. Outside the US, the cost to receive both Previews is $29.00 plus $20.00 for international processing, plus $20.00 for shipping. An order card will be included in the Preview One package and must be sent back to Caldera to request Preview Two. Preview Two will offer further enhancements and richer functionality.
