EPSON introduces a complete multimedia system for the whole family; ActionTower 8400 ranks among the top multimedia values of the year

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1995--Responding to the needs of home and small-business computer users who demand the best multimedia performance at an affordable price, EPSON Monday introduced the ActionTower 8400.
This system features a high-performance 100-megahertz (MHz) Cyrix 5x86 microprocessor and is preloaded with 30 of the industry's most popular application, entertainment, education and information software packages for the whole family, including Windows 95.

ActionTower 8400 Series Features
Based on a Cyrix 5x86 100MHz P75 microprocessor, the new EPSON ActionTower 8400 includes a high-performance, 32-bit PCI chipset with PCI local bus video and enhanced IDE (E-IDE) support; 8 megabytes (MB) of random-access memory (RAM) expandable to 128 MB; 1MB of video memory upgradable to 2MB; a 1.2-gigabyte (GB) enhanced IDE hard disk drive supporting PIO modes 3 and 4; quad-speed CD-ROM; a 28.8- kilobaud (Kbps) voice/fax modem; 16-bit 3-D stereo sound; enhanced stereo speakers; and a built-in phone center with integrated home appliances, including an answering machine, CD player, fax and speakerphone.
Built in compliance with Microsoft Corp.'s specifications for Windows 95, including Plug and Play autoconfiguration of peripherals, the ActionTower 8400 also features seven drive bays supporting Enhanced IDE; three ISA and two PCI expansion slots; a VGA interface for fixed or multifrequency, Energy Star-compliant monitors; 128 kilobytes (KB) Flash ROM for system and video BIOS; and 256KB of synchronous pipelined burst cache.
Pricing and Availability
The ActionTower 8400 multimedia computer will have an estimated street price of $1,799.
All ActionPC and ActionTower systems include one year of free on-site service and support from the EPSON Connection, the company's toll-free customer-support and technical-assistance line.
