JMR Electronics Inc. recommended for ISO 9001 registration; world's largest peripherals enclosure manufacturer recognized for high quality standards
Business Wire, Nov 14, 1995
CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1995--Josef Rabinovitz, president and chief executive officer of JMR Electronics Inc., Monday announced that the company has completed and passed its ISO 9001 final audit by AT&T, an authorized audit body for the Electronics Industries Quality Registry.
The audit and corrective action plan has been forwarded, with a favorable recommendation for registration, to the Registrar Board.
ISO 9000 is a set of standards developed in 1987 by a technical committee, the International Organization for Standardization. Originally designed to satisfy the need for quality assurance when doing business in Europe, ISO 9000 has since been adopted as an international standard by over 55 countries.
ISO 9000 consists of five separate sets of standards (9000- 9004), organized into three broad categories: 9001, 9002 and 9003. ISO 9001, the highest level of specifications, is the model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing.
ISO 9002 covers only production and installation, and ISO 9003 sets the standards for final inspection and testing. JMR Electronics applied for registration under the most comprehensive set of standards, ISO 9001.
In announcing the company's audit completion, Rabinovitz commented on the importance of compliance with the standards. "As we increase our presence outside of the United States, ISO assumes significant importance. It is a requirement for any company shipping product into Europe, and is rapidly becoming a mandatory condition for dealing with large United States OEMs. Our registration will also help the sales efforts of many of our customers who have received their own certifications. And since JMR has always been committed to a philosophy of total quality management, ISO registration was a logical step for us."
JMR Electronics Inc. is the world's largest fully integrated manufacturer of electronic enclosures for computer peripherals and currently offers over 400 different models -- in over 3,000 configurations -- for peripheral subsystem storage applications. Among the company's products are enclosures for RAID, and CD-ROM storage, rackmounts for industrial data storage, and video-on-demand cabinets. The company also has the capabilities to produce custom designs according to OEM specifications.
With headquarters in Chatsworth, JMR has experienced steady growth, at an average rate of 25 to 30 percent a year. Further information is available directly from JMR Electronics Inc., 20400 Plummer St., Chatsworth, Calif. 91311. Telephone 818/993-4801, facsimile 818/993-9173.
