Fiberstars Names B.J. Garet to Board

Business Wire, Nov 15, 1995

(NASDAQ:FBST), the leading supplier of fiber optic lighting systems, has elected B.J. Garet to fill a vacant seat on its board, bringing the number of directors to nine.

Garet was chairman of the Hanson Lighting Group and chief executive officer of U.S.I. Lighting from 1984 to 1993, when he retired. He was responsible for five lighting fixture manufacturing companies with 12 U.S. plant locations and one in Mexico. These companies manufactured and marketed lighting fixtures for use both in residential and commercial applications.

Prior to 1984, when Hanson acquired U.S. Industries, Garet had been with U.S.I. in various capacities for 11 years. As executive vice president of the Building Products Sector during 1980 to 1984, he was responsible for the acquisition of five lighting companies. From 1973 to 1980, Garet was president of Prescolite, a lighting fixture division of U.S.I. He also has worked with Litton Industries and Electra Motors Inc.

"Bill Garet is an outstanding addition to our board," said David Ruckert, Fiberstars C.E.O. "His many years of successful experience in lighting will be valuable to Fiberstars as it seeks to broaden the applications of its fiber optic systems within the lighting industry."

Fiberstars markets innovative fiber optic lighting systems for swimming pools and spas, neon-substitute applications, commercial and residential landscape and down lighting, and medical markets.
