Borland's Delphi Client/Server Wins PC Magazine Technical Excellence Award; High-Performance RAD Tool Recognized as Technically Superior Development Tool
Business Wire, Nov 15, 1995
Inc.'s Delphi Client/Server has received the 1995 Technical Excellence Award for Development Tools from the editors of PC Magazine, the most widely read computer trade publication. The Technical Excellence award winners were announced at a COMDEX ceremony here Monday. The Technical Excellence Award ceremony highlighted the superiority of twenty-seven products in ten categories with Delphi Client/Server winning the Development Tools category over Microsoft Visual Basic version 4.0.
"This award establishes Delphi Client/Server as the undisputed technical leader in the development tool market," said Gary Wetsel, Borland's president. "This recognition confirms Borland is responding to our customers' needs and the entire client/server development community is benefiting from that process."
Other International Awards
The Technical Excellence Award is the most recent of several prestigious awards received by Delphi and Delphi Client/Server for their unique combination of the world's fastest optimizing native-code compiler and the rapid application development benefits of a visual two-way development environment, an object-oriented component-based architecture, and scalable database technology.
Windows Technical Journal recently gave its 1995 Star Tech Winner Award to Delphi, citing it as "...the summation of everything the software development industry has learned during the first decade of the Windows era."
Other awards include Best of LAN Times 1995, Visual Programmer's Journal Editor's Choice, PC/Computing's Excellence Award, Ziff-Davis Cannes Software Excellence Award for Overall Technical Excellence to name a few.
Borland is publicly previewing Delphi Client/Server Suite 2.0, the new 32-bit version of Delphi Client/Server for Windows 95 and NT, all week in its booth. The new version will offer faster performance, more object-oriented capabilities and an entire suite of client and server tools.
Delphi Client/Server Suite 2.0 will also include InterBase 4.0 NT, a more integrated 32-bit version of ReportSmith SQL, and Expanded Open Tools API for integrating third-party CASE tools such as LBMS, Popkin System Architect and CSA SilverRun.
