Business Wire, Nov 20, 1995
BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 1995--Wang (NASDAQ:WANG) held its first Annual Business Conference for Wang Software Business Partners this month at its headquarters in Billerica, Mass.
The conference was designed to help Wang's work management partners better align business and technology strategies with the company and stay current with new product developments.
In association with Wang's direct sales force, Wang's partners provide systems integration and application development capabilities for their mutual customers. Approximately 95 partners representing 63 system integrators, application providers and reseller organizations attended the conference along with distributors from nine Latin American countries. Partner organizations in attendance included systems integrators Deloitte & Touche, Price Waterhouse, EDS, KPMG Peat Marwick, Automated Concepts Inc., and application providers Lawson Software, Ultradata Systems and Government Records Services.
"Partners are a fundamental component of our business strategy and go-to-market model. We were extremely pleased at the level of partner participation in this first conference," said Tim Corkery, director, channels business development. "The conference allowed our partners to gain insight into Wang's vision and business and product plans for the coming year and served as a forum to discuss how Wang and its partners can work together to benefit customers. Wang's partners play a vital role in our success today and in the future, and we look forward to hosting this conference each year to help further our mutual business objectives."
"The Wang partner conference succeeded in giving us the ammunition we need to drive our sales," said Allan Spina, practice manager, imaging and workflow practice, Automated Concepts, Inc. "We feel Wang has done an excellent job in supporting its partners, not only in providing sales and marketing support, but also in terms of delivering the technical information and expertise we need to close a sale."
"We found the conference very valuable, offering technical and strategic business updates on the Wang products our customers are most interested in -- including Wang's workflow and imaging for Unix and Microsoft's Windows NT server and its document imaging software for Microsoft's Windows 95," said Mark Galloway, director of product marketing, Lawson Software. "We believe the strength of Wang's key alliances, such as its relationship with Lawson and Microsoft, lends added value to our own activities with Wang and the Wang products."
During the three-day program, partners heard from senior executives including President and Chief Technology Officer Don Casey, Senior Vice President of Business Development David Goulden, and Senior Vice President of North American Operations Steve Quehl. The executives discussed Wang strategies, alliances, product offerings and marketing opportunities. In addition, group discussions and round table forums were held to provide Wang with feedback from its partners.
Other partners who participated include: Business Systems Group Consulting, Lockheed Martin, Coopers & Lybrand, Systems & Computer Technology, DRT Systems International, Omnikron Systems and The Computer Group.
