Time Warner Cable's Full Service Network to add interactive pizza delivery service; customers can see Pizza Hut menus, order with their remote control
Business Wire, Nov 29, 1995
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 29, 1995--Time Warner Cable's Full Service Network (FSN) is adding Pizza Hut delivery to its array of interactive television services available to customers in Orlando.
The FSN was first offered to customers December 1994, and it was announced at that time that many new services were being developed. Scheduled to be available by the end of the year, Pizza Hut will be among the other FSN services that include movies on demand, shopping, games and more.
Customers will find Pizza Hut by entering the Services venue on the network's Carousel(tm) navigation system.
By pressing a few buttons on the remote control, customers can have pizza and other items from Pizza Hut delivered to their home. The FSN Pizza Hut menu features pizza, appetizers and drinks. Customers select the size, type of crust, and toppings. If the customer has a preference such as pepperoni with extra cheese, breadsticks and a large soft drink, the preference can be saved as a favorite. Each time the order is placed, the customer can simply select it without going through the full selection and ordering process. Pricing is the same as ordering by telephone.
By using the remote, the customer is actually pressing fewer buttons than with the telephone, and saving time by not having to verbally place the order. "This process is actually an advantage for Pizza Hut as well as for our customers," said spokesperson Chris Romoser. "By using the FSN, we project that in the future, less employee time will be required for the ordering process."
"Pizza Hut is a great example of how FSN customers not only watch television, they use television as well," said FSN President Tom Feige. "The future of television lies in its potential to give users greater choice, convenience and control of their viewing habits and consumer activities. That's what the FSN is all about."
