HP Announces Release 2.1 of HP-RT Real-Time Operating System

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1995--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced Release 2.1 of the HP-RT real-time operating system and associated software packages. This release includes enhancements to the developer's kit and two existing software packages. It also includes two new software packages.
HP-RT is a real-time operating system that offers interrupt response times of less than 100 microseconds. Combining this real-time speed capability with an industry-standard-based operating system helps application developers cut maintenance costs, achieve faster time to market and port software more easily.
New functionality provided by Release 2.1 includes the following:

EXISTING PRODUCTS WITH NEW RELEASES
STREAMSrt with data link provider interface (DLPI) now allows programmers to write and port STREAMS-based applications for HP-RT.
VME backplane networking supports the networking of two or more HP processor boards over the VME backplane, booting HP-RT over the VMEbus from an HP-UX(1) system and using ARPA/Berkeley networking or NFS.
NEW PRODUCTS AVAILABLE AND SUPPORTED BY RELEASE 2.1
A PCMCIA adapter connects to the HP 743rt VMEbus Board Computer as a mezzanine card assembly and supports HP's 10MB and 20MB flash-disk cards.
X11 SERVERrt allows X library results to be displayed directly on a graphics monitor connected to an HP-RT target system.
SNMPrt Agent allows customers to communicate with and modify parameters in a remote computer. It extends the networking capabilities of HP-RT into the HP OpenView and other SNMP network-management environments.
