Now Software announces plans for new synchronization software for HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer; Now Synchronize keeps contacts and schedules on the HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer synchronized with Now Up-to-Date on Windows-based PCs

Business Wire, Nov 6, 1995

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1995--Now Software, the leading software developer dedicated to time management software, today announced its plans to port its desktop synchronization software, Now Synchronize(TM), for the new HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer from Hewlett-Packard Co. which runs on the GEOS(R) operating system from Geoworks.

The new product will provide the ability to share the same calendar and address book between the HP OmniGo 100 organizer and Now Up-to-Date(TM) for Windows -- creating a truly portable organizer for Windows and OmniGo users.

"Now Synchronize is a proven approach that has been enthusiastically accepted in the marketplace by Now Up-to-Date and Newton Message Pad users," stated Duane Schulz, CEO of Now Software.

"Now Synchronize for the HP OmniGo 100 is an exciting step forward in Now's vision of providing quick access to time and people anytime, anywhere."

Now Synchronize compares calendar and contact entries by date and time and ensures that the latest information and changes appear on both the HP OmniGo 100 and in Now Up-to-Date.

To synchronize, users simply launch Now Synchronize. Synchronization occurs in both directions and, after synchronizing, the same calendar and contact information resides on both the HP OmniGo 100 and in Now Up-to-Date.

"Now Synchronize will be an invaluable addition to the HP OmniGo 100 organizer," said Kheng Joo Khaw, general manager of HP's Asia Pacific PC division. "It provides the additional flexibility of allowing users to automatically keep the same calendar and contacts on their HP OmniGo 100 organizers and on their desktop PC running Now Up-to-Date."

Based on the GEOS operating system, the HP OmniGo 100 handheld organizer is designed to be easy and fun to use -- and fast to learn. The new organizer, which features a breakthrough design and a range of information-management tools including a calendar and address book, is small enough to fit in a coat pocket.

"The direct PC synchronization capability of Now Synchronize is a great example of true connectivity between GEOS-based devices and the customers' larger source of information," said Gordon Mayer, president and CEO of Geoworks.
