InfiNet and Mortgage Market Information Services, Inc. reach a cooperative marketing agreement
Business Wire, Nov 8, 1995
VILLA PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 1995--It was announced on October 24, 1995 that a cooperative marketing agreement has been reached between InfiNet and Mortgage Market Information Services, Inc. (MMIS).
MMIS will be co-working with InfiNet to provide local and national online mortgage rate information to newspapers. For early 1996, plans are underway to enhance InfiNet's Real Estate Web product and develop a national consumer mortgage database. Mortgage information has proven to be a key newspaper real estate feature because of rate volatility and heavy consumer interest. The continued development of the online products will open doors to new ventures and business opportunities for both companies.
James R. De Both, president of MMIS, noted that the "tremendous commercial/financial potential of the Internet is already coming to fruition, and MMIS online products are outpacing all of our other services combined." He went on to urge newspapers to "aggressively embrace the online information age, to be the consumer's information supplier regardless of the medium."
InfiNet, based in Norfolk, VA, is a joint venture launched in 1994 between two progressive media companies -- Knight-Ridder and Landmark Communications. InfiNet is a full service internet company with a mission of developing business models that make sense for newspapers. The combination of these two progressive information giants will provide additional benefits for individual newspapers across the country. InfiNet will be in 30 markets by the end of 1995 and is projecting being in 100 markets by the end of 1996.
Mortgage Market Information Services, Inc. is based in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park and has been on a rapid expansion path since its inception in 1987. MMIS, a leader in financial publishing, has not only saved consumers thousands of dollars through mortgage rate listings, but it is also the industry leader in providing newspapers with revenue generating home finance features. Currently, MMIS supplies over 300 newspapers across the country with the most current mortgage interest rates, charts and trends.
MMIS also supplies newspapers, radio and television media with timely, in-depth editorial information.
MMIS is not new to online services. In fact, MMIS has been operating a highly successful financial services electronic bulletin board since 1987, and is presently operating a high traffic site on the World Wide Web (http://www.interest.com). By bringing mortgage rate listings to newspapers' internet web sites, MMIS can help newspapers maintain their dominance as the consumer's main source for financial information.
