Japan Airlines introduces new customer information system

Business Wire, Nov 9, 1995

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 9, 1995--A new information system for callers to Japan Airlines' Mileage Bank Americas (JMBA) frequent flyer program has been introduced by JAL.

Called `New Customer Information System,' the software involves the latest technology to combine the functions of JMBA and JAL's AXESS reservations system in one terminal. All JAL telephone reservations agents are now able to handle basic JAL information and reservations as well as JMBA frequent flyer inquiries. This provides complete telephone assistance by one agent to each passenger.

-- JAL-FONE (1-800-525-3663), JAL's telephone reservations number for continental U.S. and Canada: In addition to normal reservations and information, callers can be instantly transferred to JAL-BELL, the number for flight arrival and departure times.

-- JAL-MILE (1-800-525-6453), JMBA JAL's frequent flyer program: Callers now have automated information available 24 hours daily activated by telephone push-buttons, including mileage balance, how to request awards, information on the program and how to request an application to join.

Using either telephone function callers can choose to speak English or Japanese.

A unique feature for JAL telephone reservations agents provides instant caller background information on terminal screens as soon as a call from a JMBA member is answered.
