Mitsubishi Corp. and Nippon Shokubai Co. Ltd. to market Planet Polymer's EnviroPlastic resins

Business Wire, Oct 10, 1995

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1995--Planet Polymer Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:POLY) Tuesday announced an agreement with Mitsubishi Corp. and Nippon Shokubai Co. Ltd. for the exclusive distribution in Japan of its EnviroPlastic resins, which will be marketed under the tradename "Lunare."

Recognizing the world's ecological concerns and the strong public demand for biodegradable plastics, Mitsubishi and Nippon Shokubai will market Planet Polymer's compostable grades, EnviroPlastic-C and EnviroPlastic-Z, as well as the water-soluble- grade, EnviroPlastic-H.

For three years, Mitsubishi and Nippon Shokubai have jointly investigated the potential market in Japan for Planet Polymer's EnviroPlastic-Z, a cellulose acetate-based compostable resin. The two companies believe the market for biodegradable plastics is a rapidly expanding one.

According to Mitsubishi and Nippon Shokubai:

1) EnviroPlastic-Z displays high transparency and mechanical

strength, clear advantages over other biodegradable plastics

in the market;

2) There is good market acceptance for use in bottles, casing,

packaging and stationery supplies such as pens and paper

clips; and

3) The biodegradation of EnviroPlastic-Z was confirmed in a

five-month soil burial test conducted by Nippon Shokubai.
