Donnelley Marketing Inc. announces new organization structure
Business Wire, Oct 16, 1995
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1995--Donnelley Marketing Inc. today announced plans for a new organization structure that will separate the company into three highly focused companies: Donnelley Marketing, Carol Wright Consumer Promotions, and Carol Wright Sales. The three companies will report to Robert F. Spillane, president/CEO.
In announcing the plans, Spillane said, "We see this structure as the most logical way to bring our diverse businesses closer to their customers. It will enable each business unit to be more responsive to customer needs, and to move faster to capitalize on the growth opportunities in their individual markets."
Operating under the familiar "Donnelley Marketing" name, one company will focus exclusively on consumer information and related services. This includes consumer information databases DQI2 and Share Force, marketing database services, research and modeling, computer services, merge/purge, and lettershop. In addition, this company will focus on electronic media efforts, including continued development of Donnelley Marketing's forum on the Microsoft Network, World Wide Web and other activities.
Robert K. Sher will serve as president, Donnelley Marketing. Other senior officers to lead Donnelley Marketing are G. Jack Haney, exec. VP/sales; Pat Minton, senior VP/chief information officer, and Rob Jackson, VP/marketing and information services.
The second company, Carol Wright Consumer Promotions, will include the Carol Wright Co-op, Carol Wright American Values and related services for consumer goods marketers. Spillane said, ``We plan to expand our services to packaged goods manufacturers as well as national and local customers engaging in direct marketing." He continued, "This company will focus on the consumer promotion market with a dedicated sales force to sell co-op and related services. This group's role will be to provide the support necessary to help our customers reach their promotional goals."
Bob Spillane will assume the responsibility as interim president of Carol Wright Consumer Promotions during the transition. Appointed senior officers are Victoria James, exec. VP/sales -- direct marketing; Ruth Ann Carroll, exec. VP/sales -- packaged goods, Steve Snyder, exec. VP/new business development and Karen Schreiner, group director/marketing.
The third company in the new alignment will be Carol Wright Sales. Their focus will continue to be on the direct marketing of popular priced merchandise to consumers. Bob Ginsberg will remain as president of Carol Wright Sales.
Spillane said that all three businesses will have everything they need to meet customers' needs. Each already has seasoned management and a productive work force. Each has significant operations. And, where it makes sense to partner in serving a customer's needs, the new businesses will continue to work together.
Spillane noted that each company participates in a highly competitive market. "The new organization is a response to the need for us to look at the opportunities in each market individually." He continued, "Now each group can make its own decision on how to best compete as efficiently as possible."
