Business Wire, Oct 17, 1995

WAYNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 1995--USA TECHNOLOGIES INC. (BULLETIN BOARD USTX: Common; USTXU: Unit; USTXP: Preferred), the leader in unattended credit-card technology will introduce the first Credit Card Computer Express(TM)-C3X at the Computer Distributors Exposition (COMDEX) in Las Vegas November 13-17, 1995 in Booth S8056.

Using the C3X, with a swipe of a credit card, anyone can surf the net, the company points out.

Instant Access

This Fall, USA TECHNOLOGIES INC. will be installing the first Credit Card Computer Centers(TM) in public libraries, the hospitality industry, and a wide variety of retail locations. Students, researchers, job seekers, small business owners and others will have easy and affordable access to state-of-the-art computer equipment and the ever-expanding worldwide information network. The Credit Card Computer Centers(TM) will provide access to a variety of services, such as word processing, desktop publishing, Internet access, multi-media capabilities, resume writing, and high quality printing. Additional options to the customers include: access of up to six different online services, such as America Online, Prodigy, and CompuServe.

No Capital Outlay for Consumers

USA TECHNOLOGIES poses the question: What can be more affordable for the consumer than paying for the use of a state-of-the-art computer on an as-needed basis with no capital outlay? Keeping equipment state-of-the-art requires a significant investment. The C3X system is the long awaited bridge that allows customers the freedom to take advantage of state-of-the-art computers and the information highway.

George Jensen Jr., chairman and CEO of USA TECHNOLOGIES INC., states: "The Credit Card Computer Express(TM) will revolutionize how the world uses computers. The C3X system is the passport that will allow every American to enter the ever expanding universe of computer interaction."

Cashless Reality

Recent surveys have shown that credit cards are the No.1 method of payment by consumers in the U.S. During 1994, credit card purchases in the U.S. exceeded $427 billion, according to the company. C3X allows customers to use their preferred method of payment, credit cards, to purchase high-tech services.

Easily Installed

The C3X control system is easily installed as an external device or as a plug-n-play component that can fit into a computer drive bay. With printed, displayed, and voice-on-a-chip recorded messages, the equipment easily guides customers through their transactions. After the transaction, the customer automatically receives an itemized receipt.

Customer and Merchant Friendly

Libraries and merchants have been praising USA TECHNOLOGIES' unattended credit card technology because it increases revenue, reduces work, and is customer friendly. The Credit Card Computer Express(TM) is a comprehensive, unattended system which eliminates cash handling and increases accountability.

Increases Revenue

The C3X system generates new revenues by converting cost centers into profit centers overnight. With each of the company's credit card control systems, all credit card processing, accounting, disbursement activity and online management information is handled by USA TECHNOLOGIES. Participating merchants will receive bi-monthly payment and an accounting summary.

The Future is Here

Jensen further stated: "For many Americans, the cost of purchasing a computer, combined with the ongoing costs of upgrading and maintaining the system, is becoming cost-prohibitive. It is the goal of USA TECHNOLOGIES to provide state-of-the-art computer services for every American on a `pay-as-you-go' basis. By locating our equipment in convenient areas such as public libraries, the hospitality industry, and a wide variety of retail locations, virtually everyone will be able to purchase access to the information superhighway without the significant capital outlay currently required." -0-
