Life Medical Sciences, Inc. files patent application for restoration of natural hair color; Company Unveils Evidence of "Reversal Of Aging" Process
Business Wire, Oct 2, 1995
PRINCETON, N.J.--Oct. 2, 1995--(HealthWire)--Life Medical Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHAI, CHAIU, CHAIW, CHAIZ) today announced that it has filed a U.S. patent application for the production of pigmentation associated with hair growth (follicular melanogenesis). The Company will also file for patent protection in other major world markets.
Most recently, the Company has observed a reversal of hair greying and whitening to the original, youthful hair color in a number of patients using Piliel(TM), Life Medical's product for hair regrowth and prevention of hair loss.
Piliel(TM), however, is not a hair dye. It is responsible for the stimulation of scalp cells which are, in turn, responsible for hair coloring (follicular melanocytes). This natural hair coloring occurs beneath the scalp's surface, eliminating the grey roots associated with dyed hair. The Company is presently conducting further testing to evaluate possible commercial applications.
Professor Ella Lindenbaum, a senior scientist for Life Medical Sciences and Director of the Tissue Regeneration Unit at the Technion University in Haifa, Israel, stated, "Follicular melanogenesis is only associated with active hair growth. Apparent stimuation as a result of the application of Piliel(TM) is further evidence of the product's value as an effective hair growth agent. Our current findings open up new possibilities in maintaining and restoring natural hair color without the use of harsh dyes and rinses."
Life Medical Sciences, Inc. is engaged in the development of cost-effective medical products. The Company has developed and commercialized the Sure Closure(TM) device for the rapid closure of tissue deficit wounds. The Company is developing hair growth products, wound healing agents for chronic wounds, surgical wounds, ulcers and burns as well as tissue transplantation products.
