AT&T OneVision is the leading system management solution for customers who are migrating from MVS mainframe-centric environments to AT&T-based client/server platforms. With DAZEL, AT&T will provide a complete output management solution with the same level of robustness and reliability typically found in a mainframe environment. Additionally, this solution will provide enhanced capabilities in the areas of complete job control, security management, automatic final format management, bi-directional status and device problem feedback.
"As commercial client/server applications move into production, Output Management becomes a key component that must be addressed. DAZEL now provides this critical, missing piece of infrastructure as part of the AT&T OneVision platform," explained Tad Bodeman, director of OneVision Marketing, AT&T GIS.
"Our OneVision customers implement high-volume, output-intensive applications including invoicing and billing, report distribution and job order production. Before standardizing on DAZEL, we went through an extensive search for a system that could satisfy our customer's needs. The DAZEL system was the best and only viable solution that met our specifications," explained Bodeman. "The DAZEL Output Server provides a reliability and robustness comparable to a database server, combined with the unique flexibility of destination independence."
With DAZEL, customers have unified access to and centralized control of output management services such as printing, faxing, e-mail and paging. For example, monthly customer statements and invoices for California customers can be generated on printers in California while being controlled and monitored by AT&T servers at headquarters in New Jersey.
"DAZEL will extend our offering beyond other UNIX vendors by delivering enterprise-class client/server output management solutions," continued Bodeman. "For our customers the DAZEL solution means lower operational costs and enhanced revenue generation."
"With this partnership agreement, we are providing commercial client/server applications moving into production with a best-of-breed integrated system management and output management solution. DAZEL can now be implemented by AT&T GIS customers in conjunction with their other applications, such as SAP R/3, Oracle Financials, and PeopleSoft, to meet their distributed business requirements," explained Robert A. Fabbio, founder and president, DAZEL Corp.
"We believe the combination of AT&T's dominant presence in their target markets, with a solid systems management offering, is the basis for a highly successful partnership between the two companies," continued Fabbio.
Under the strategic partnership agreement, a version of the DAZEL Output Management System, specifically designed for the AT&T UNIX SVR4 platform, will be available in the first quarter of 1996. DAZEL for AT&T UNIX will allow AT&T sites to implement DAZEL for enterprise-wide output.
