Etak Information Group debuts TargetView, geographic marketing information system
Business Wire, Oct 2, 1995
PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1995--The Etak Information Group (EIG), a strategic business unit of the digital map publisher, Etak Inc., Monday announced TargetView.
TargetView is a geographic marketing information system that combines detailed business data, computerized maps and analysis and retrieval software.
The Windows-based "plug and play" system contains locations and detailed data for more than 11 million businesses, 85 million consumer households and street data nationwide. A self-contained system, TargetView contains everything a user needs to retrieve and view detailed business information in a focused geographic region.
Using TargetView's geographical user interface with a simple "point and click" operation, a user can quickly pinpoint a specific location or scan the database for a profiled industry based on selected criteria or distance radius. Once a location is identified, the database will retrieve and display a map containing the name, address and vital statistics of every surrounding business.
Database information, provided by Database America's All Business File, includes the company name SIC code, address, phone number, contact person, title, number of employees, sales volume and year the business was started. TargetView also notes whether the site is a franchise or headquarters.
TargetView features an innovative function called DriveCalc, which further facilitates timely data searches. When initiated, DriveCalc creates a polygon-shaped "lasso" around a specified point, designating either the drive-time or drive-distance to surrounding business points.
The self-contained system is intended for desktop PC use and starts at $7,000, including unlimited downloads of business information. TargetView's nationwide coverage is available on CD-ROM and requires a Windows 3.1 or higher environment to run. Quarterly updates are also available from EIG.
Etak, a wholly owned subsidiary of News Corp., has its business headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif. Under the direction of its chairman, Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. has grown into a global media company with more than $8 billion in U.S. revenues.
