Bruce L. Stein named President and CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.; Martin Homlish named President, Sony Computer Entertainment America

has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc., and Martin Homlish has been named President, Sony Computer Entertainment America effective immediately, it was announced today by Michael P. Schulhof, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sony Corporation of America.
In his position, Bruce Stein will continue the direction taken by Sony in marrying hardware and software in a clear and very successful demonstration of that application in the Sony PlayStation(TM). With his extensive background in entertainment marketing and the game and toy industry, he will be instrumental in directing the selection and development of software products for Sony.
Martin Homlish is named President, Sony Computer Entertainment America, after serving with distinction as the company's Acting President since August 1995. He will oversee the development and marketing of PlayStation hardware and software in the United States.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. includes Sony Computer Entertainment America, Sony Interactive Studios America, Sony Interactive PC Software America, and their respective sister companies in Europe, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Sony Interactive Studios Europe (Psygnosis), Sony Interactive PC Software Europe; and Media and Software services.
Mr. Stein will be based in Los Angeles and will report to the Board of Sony Interactive Entertainment. He will also join the Boards of Sony Retail Entertainment, the company's Retail Development, Theaters and location based entertainment arm; and Sony Signatures, the company's merchandise licensing arm; and will work on special projects with Sony New Technologies.
Sony Computer Entertainment America, headed by Mr. Homlish, will report to an Executive Committee, chaired by Terry Tokunaka, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. of Japan. This Executive Committee also includes Mr. Stein, and Jeff Sagansky, Executive Vice President, Sony Corporation of America, and Ken Kutaragi, Executive Vice President, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. of Japan. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will report to an Executive Committee chaired by Mr. Tokunaka as well.

Stein comes to Sony from Dreamworks, SKG where he has been a consultant working on the development of that company's new entertainment/consumer products and intellectual property division. Prior to that, he worked for Kenner Products, a division of Hasbro, Inc. which he joined in 1987 as Senior Vice President, Marketing, and was named President in 1990. Before that he was a Vice President of Marketing for Mattel Toys (1985-86) and a Vice President at Ogilvy and Mather in Los Angeles (1981-85) working on Mattel and a variety of other accounts. He has an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago (1978) and a BA from Pitzer College in Claremont, California (1976).
Mr. Homlish joined Sony in 1985 as a National Sales Manager for general audio products. He was promoted to Vice President in 1989, and has most recently served as Senior Vice President of the Consumer Products Group of Sony Electronics, Inc. with responsibility for general management of the Consumer Audio Products Company, which is comprised of six operating divisions. He received his BA from Goddard College in 1974.
