Business Wire, Oct 23, 1995
announced its alliance with Sun Microsystems in developing new Internet applications and electronic commerce services.
SSDS will work with Sun's Interactive Service Group as it brings networked interactive services to the business environment. SSDS has also joined Sun's Catalyst Inter* (pronounced Inter-star) Developer Program, joining Sun and other vendors focused on electronic commerce and interactive services. SSDS's main thrust will be in the area of "customer care," the integration of a company's many interfaces to its customers.
SSDS president and CEO Ron Strich said, "These new alliances with Sun are indicative of our continuing commitment to leading the electronic commerce and interactive services markets. Our existing relationships with United Video Satellite Group, TCI, and Fujitsu/ICL have laid the foundation for that leadership. Today's announcements strengthen it."
SSDS will focus on the customer care premise by identifying and implementing IT-based strategies to enhance delivery of superior service to customers; developing Internet applications utilizing Sun's Java technology; and providing content integration to support development and deployment of electronic commerce and interactive services.
Anne Schowe, vice president and general manager of Sun's ISG group, said, "Sun is bringing interactive services to enterprises, enabling businesses to take advantage of multimedia capabilities in the workplace today. We rely on partners like SSDS to make this a reality by developing the technologies and services our customers need to attain competitive advantage."
"The Catalyst Inter* Developer program will benefit from SSDS's customer care orientation and their technology leadership," said Katherine Webster, Sun Microsystems group manager of electronic commerce.
