Carol Bartz joins Network Appliance Board of Directors

Business Wire, Oct 24, 1995

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 1995--Carol Bartz has joined the board of directors of Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp), the company announced today.

Bartz is chairman, chief executive officer and president of Autodesk Inc., one of the world's leading PC software developers. Under her leadership, Autodesk has become the world's fourth-largest software developer. Since she joined the company in 1992, revenue has grown to $455 million from $285 million.

Network Appliance makes dedicated, data-access servers which give computer users quick, easy access to network-attached information. Its offerings are designed as network-computing appliances to deliver fast, simple, reliable, and more cost-effective access to time-sensitive and business-critical data.

"Bringing the skill and experience of Carol Bartz to our board is a significant event for Network Appliance," said Dan Warmenhoven, NetApp president and chief executive officer. "Business expansion and organizational growth are her specific areas of expertise. Without question, she will have immediate and sustaining impact on the company."

In addition to NetApp, Bartz serves on the boards of AirTouch Communications, Cadence Design Systems, the California Chamber of Commerce and The Foundation for the National Medals of Science and Technology. She is also a member of President Clinton's Export Council and the Business School Advisory Council of Stanford University.

Unlike general purpose servers, NetApp products are dedicated to the single function of data access which enables them to deliver the industry's best response-time. This advantage is particularly important to customers who need to design and deliver products more quickly and also to customers such as Internet services providers who depend on providing their own customers with faster network response time.
