Brother & Geoworks team to form the perfect Ensemble; begin shipping new personal desktop publishing systems

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 1995--Brother International Corp., long known as an innovator in bringing value-oriented products to market, has joined forces with Geoworks, a leading supplier of operating system and application software, to introduce Brother's Ensemble line of personal desktop publishing systems.
By combining the strength of Brother's product development and Geoworks' GEOS(R) operating system, these new products allow individuals to create beautiful looking documents quickly and effortlessly at a price point affordable to everyone.

With Ensemble, anyone can combine text, graphic clip art, symbols, charts, graphs and multiple type styles, fonts and sizes to create a myriad of professional-quality reports, presentations, newsletters, brochures, etc. And it's incredibly easy to use. Its intuitive, mouse-driven, Windows-like format has an ICON main menu, dialog boxes, even on-line help so that users can produce professional quality documents right away. Ensemble comes with a standard 3.5" 1.44MB disk drive to import/export WordPerfect(R), MS Word(R) ASCII and Lotus(R) 1-2-3(R) files. It includes a 14" high resolution graphic display and a modem port for sending and receiving files or accessing on-line services or E-mail with the optional modem.
The Ensemble line, featuring the PDP100J and PDP300CJ models, is expected to sell at $499 and $749, respectively. Both two-piece, compact models include a built-in laser quality 300 x 300 dpi ink jet printer for ultra-quiet, ultra-fast laser-quality text and graphics. The PDP100J features a sleek monochrome ink jet printer and a monochrome monitor. The PDP300CJ, on the other hand, features the industry's first built-in color ink jet printer and color CRT monitor. Both feature Geoworks' award winning software suite which includes spreadsheet and time management functions, as well as the easy-to-use GEOS system software.
