Playboy magazine December issue on sale one week early due to wholesaler/public interest in Farrah Fawcett pictorial

Business Wire, Oct 25, 1995

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 1995--Extraordinary wholesaler and public interest in the December issue of Playboy magazine, which features a ten-page nude pictorial of actress Farrah Fawcett, has resulted in a decision to release the magazine nationwide one week earlier than its scheduled on-sale date of Oct. 31.

According to Playboy's founder and editor-in-chief, Hugh M. Hefner, ``Playboy's policy has always been to hold to our on-sale date, but the groundswell of enthusiasm for the Farrah Fawcett pictorial by our distributors and their customers convinced me to make an exception in this case.''

Hefner noted that the news media have been clamoring for advance copies of the magazine and resurrecting old footage of Fawcett to supplement their news stories about the magazine appearance because of the unavailability of the new Playboy photos of the actress and 70s icon.

In addition to the Farrah Fawcett pictorial, the December Playboy features a Playboy Interview with George Foreman, a photo essay on 50s pin-up star Bettie Page, articles on O.J. Simpson by Dominick Dunne and on terrorism by former Los Angeles police chief Daryl Gates and fiction by Ray Bradbury.
