Lockheed Martin wins Air Force Simulation Facility contract
Business Wire, Oct 9, 1995
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 1995--Lockheed Martin Information Systems has been awarded a 5-year, $13.2 million Air Force contract to operate and maintain the Theater Air Command and Control Simulation Facility at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
The Theater Air Command and Control Simulation Facility combines high-fidelity simulation of fielded systems, terrain data, variable weather conditions, and highly-accurate threat scenarios. This realistic environment allows missile system operators, aircrews, and command and control personnel to evaluate train and prepare for combat operations.
The program's capabilities include simulation of battle management, command and control, computers and intelligence, theater air defense, weapons system testing, evaluation and training support.
A military staff with operational experience is available to assist facility users, while technical support for planning, scheduling, test execution, data collection, and analysis is provided by a contractor team led by Lockheed Martin. The facility is available to all U.S. and allied government organizations requiring simulation.
"This contract award underscores our leadership position in the military simulation arena," said John Hallal, Lockheed Martin Information Systems president. "Over the coming years, the nation's forces will be relying more heavily than ever upon cost-efficient simulation technologies to maintain battle-readiness, and Lockheed Martin is committed to support this strategic shift."
