EPSON lowers price on document scanner; EPSON Personal Document Station is price/performance leader in document scanner category
Business Wire, Oct 9, 1995
TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 1995--EPSON, the creator of high-quality, award-winning imaging products, Monday reduced the price of the EPSON Personal Document Station (PDS) from $599 to $449.
As the only document scanner available with full file management capabilities and direct e-mail hooks standard, the price reduction makes the EPSON PDS the undisputed price/performance leader in the document scanner category.
Citing a strong desire to maintain EPSON's technical leadership in all desktop scanning categories, the company also stated that the price reduction would primarily serve to broaden distribution channels for the product. The PDS is currently available at retail outlets nationwide.
EPSON was the first scanner manufacturer to introduce single-pass scanning on the desktop. It was also the first company to introduce single-pass color scanning on the desktop and to ship 30-bit desktop scanners for under $1,500.
EPSON offers an extensive array of technology products including ink jet, laser and dot matrix printers, scanners, portable and desktop computers, and for the OEM market, a variety of component and electronic devices.
Founded in 1975, Epson America Inc. is an affiliate of Seiko Epson Corp., a global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality technology products that meet customer demands for increased functionality, compactness, systems integration and energy efficiency.
