El Paso Natural Gas Co. extends cash/stock election deadline for Eastex Energy merger

EL PASO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 1995--El Paso Natural Gas Company (NYSE:EPG) announced today that it is extending the deadline for shareholders of Eastex Energy Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS:ETEX) to make elections whether to receive cash or stock in connection with the merger of Eastex with a subsidiary of EPG from 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on Monday, Sept. 11, 1995 to 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on Friday, Sept. 15, 1995.
The deadline for delivery of stock certificates by shareholders who submit forms of election and use the guaranteed delivery procedure specified in the form of election is being extended to 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1995. As previously announced, the special meeting of Eastex shareholders to vote on the merger will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1995.
In the merger, Eastex shareholders have the right, subject to certain limitations, to elect to receive either $4.50 in cash or between .1485 and .1629 of a share of EPG common stock for each of their Eastex shares. Eastex shareholders who have not yet made an election and wish to do so should use the form of election previously distributed to shareholders.
