RACORE Unveils Industry First Multiple Personality 100 Mb s PCI Modular Adapter Based on ThunderLAN Architecture from Texas Instruments; New PCI Adapter can be equipped with 10Base-T, 100VG-AnyLAN, 100Base-TX, 100Base-T4

Business Wire, Sept 12, 1995

LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 1995--RACORE Computer Products, Inc., today launched the RACORE 100 Mb/s PCI Multiple Personality Modular Adapter. The PCI adapter connects to the host computer via the PCI local bus using modules that provide interfaces for 10Base-T, 100Base-T, 100Base-TX, 100Base-T4 or 100VG -- with new high speed Ethernet networking technology made possible by the Texas Instruments' ThunderLAN LAN controller architecture.

Change your mind; change the module. The base board remains. And one driver suite fits all. In the fast paced world of high technology, the modular adapter becomes the perfect solution for migrating toward a faster network, while still protecting your initial investment. The 100 Mbit/s technologies provide 100 Mb/s data, voice, and video transmission over the same category 3 UTP and other copper or fiber optic cable types that are already in use on existing Token Ring or Ethernet networks. The 100 Mbit/s solution can provide up to ten times the speed of existing networks -- accommodating customer needs for faster networks for traffic intensive multi-media, imaging and GUI (graphical user interface) applications. And using the Texas Instruments' ThunderLAN chipset allows RACORE to custom-fit solutions for customers, even the most demanding ones. ThunderLAN is Texas Instruments' solution for customers' needs for flexibility.

Joe Valente, Marketing Manager of Texas Instruments' ThunderLAN project said, "The RACORE Multiple Personality PCI Adapter embodies the vision that our designers foresaw when we originally developed ThunderLAN. This new adapter takes full advantage of the flexibility and upgradability designed into ThunderLAN in providing true freedom of choice to the end user. We are pleased to have worked with RACORE in delivering the ThunderLAN technology to the market in this leading edge product."

RACORE's product line also includes 100VG ISA, EISA, and PCI network cards which can also operate as 10Base-T cards to allow smooth transitions to the swifter technologies. RACORE's complete solution includes the RACORE 6-Port 100VG-AnyLAN hub.
