Elizabethtown Water Company customers not affected by drought emergency in NJ

Business Wire, Sept 13, 1995

WESTFIELD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1995--Customers of Elizabethtown Water Company are not affected by the executive order signed by Governor Whitman declaring a drought emergency for northern New Jersey.

Elizabethtown's water supply continues to be adequate and restrictions were not placed on Elizabethtown customers. According to the New Jersey Water Supply Authority, Elizabethtown's water sources - Spruce Run and Round Valley Reservoirs - are at a combined capacity of 85 percent. As a result, the company does not anticipate imposing restrictions on its customers this year.

Even though supplies are adequate, one town in Elizabethtown's service territory - Bedminster Township - will be required to observe restrictions because the majority of the town is served by a water company - other than Elizabethtown - that is affected by the drought emergency.

Elizabethtown Water Company and its subsidiary, The Mount Holly Water Company, serve more than 189,000 business and residential customers in 54 municipalities in Burlington, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean, Somerset and Union counties.
