Power Quality Forum and real-time chat line hit Internet

Business Wire, Sept 14, 1995

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1995--Internet users concerned about Power Quality issues are gaining two new interactive information sources: UtiliCorp United's Power Quality Forum(SM) and Power Quality Chat(SM).

"The Power Quality Chat is essentially a panel of experts discussing Power Quality issues and answering questions in real time," said Brian Spencer, UtiliCorp's Internet project manager. The first Chat is scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon Central time. We are lining up the panelists who will take the questions and comments from the Internet audience."

Spencer said the Power Quality Forum,, which started today, accomodates interactive, but not necessarily real-time, exchanges. People who have questions or comments about power quality can address them to the Forum for response.

Spencer said the learning potential of the Chat is unlimited, "From a businessperson's standpoint, think of it as the Power Quality seminar you really wanted to attend but couldn't because of either cost or logistical factors," he said. "Now you can attend via your computer, and you can have a real-time dialogue with the panelists."

"If you want to have a prolonged conversation about a specific topic, such as hospital power quality, you and a panelist can even duck into a `private room' after the scheduled chat ends so that you can continue your conversation," he said. "It is a virtual classroom where every Power Quality expert in the world is both a teacher and student."

John Mungenast, editor-in-chief of Power Quality Assurance Magazine, said, "We believe the medium provides users/readers direct interactive access to almost unlimited information about power quality. The Chat and Forum will develop an audience commenting on questions and concerns relating to power quality from around the world."

The Power Quality Forum and the Power Quality Chat can be reached through UtiliCorp's home page: http://www.utilicorp.com, or http://www.energyl.com. In addition, Power Quality Assurance Magazine also is on-line on UtiliCorp's home page.

Kansas City-based UtiliCorp markets its products and services under the EnergyOne(SM) brand. It has natural gas and electric power distribution and marketing operations across the United States and in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
