Datalogix GEMMS process manufacturing software available on Sequent; on Sequent SMP Systems, GEMMS provides scalable enterprise solution
Business Wire, Sept 19, 1995
BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1995--Sequent Computer Systems Inc. and Datalogix International Inc. today announced the worldwide availability of the Datalogix(R) Global Enterprise Manufacturing Management System (GEMMS)(R) software solution on Sequent(R) Symmetry(R) symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems.
GEMMS is an open client/server software application designed to manage the manufacturing and logistics operations of worldwide process manufacturing companies.
Enterprise customers need access to the huge volume of information their production processes generate. GEMMS, on the highly available, high-performance Sequent SMP platform, ensures vital access to these large-scale data stores for up-to-the-minute status of the production process and analysis of enterprise cost data for quick and effective business decisions.
Under the new agreement, Sequent and Datalogix will jointly market and sell GEMMS to new and existing customers in addition to working on other cooperative product development initiatives. Sequent will integrate and support the installed solutions. In the United States, GEMMS is jointly marketed by Datalogix and Oracle Corp.(R); outside the United States, it is available from Oracle as Oracle GEMMS.
"Our investment in GEMMS is part of our strategy to make available a portfolio of enterprise software offerings for manufacturing and financial operations of global 1,000 companies," said Ross Summers, vice president of marketing at Sequent. "As our first offering designed to address process manufacturers' production and logistics areas, GEMMS complements our other Oracle-based software solutions, which meet the needs of discrete manufacturing operations."
The agreement between Sequent and Datalogix leverages Sequent's experience in successfully delivering solutions based on Oracle Financials. The availability of GEMMS is an extension of Sequent's Oracle applications offerings and builds on Sequent's track record with high-end enterprise Oracle applications with 350 Oracle applications implementation and installation sites in 25 countries worldwide.
"We are pleased to be able to offer GEMMS on Sequent's scalable and highly available open systems platform," said Richard C. Giordanella, Datalogix president and CEO. "We are also excited about the opportunity to leverage Sequent's close working relationship with Oracle, both as a sales partner and as a primary high-end development environment for Oracle software."
