Business Wire, Sept 19, 1995
ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1995--To provide enterprise systems management for Digital's new high performance, 64-bit open systems architecture, Computer Associates today began shipping CA-Unicenter for the ALPHA family of systems under Digital UNIX.
The announcement is in keeping with CA's strategy of extending open, integrated client/server systems management to leading computing platforms, and with Digital's strategy of providing interoperable high-performance computing solutions. Clients are enthusiastic about the combination of the "record breaking" processing speed of Digital Alpha workstations and servers with the proven systems management capabilities of CA-Unicenter.
"We're depending on CA-Unicenter to manage our high-performance Digital UNIX systems," said Louise Saidnawey, manager of systems and operations, Parametric Technology, Waltham, Mass. "The combination of blazing speed and top-notch systems management gives us the best of both worlds --performance and control-- for our mission-critical applications."
CA has also extended its integration of systems and network management by linking CA-Unicenter with Digital's POLYCENTER Manager on NetView. This will allow clients to employ reliable enterprise management in heterogeneous computing environments that include high-performance Alpha systems.
"CA's goal is to provide our clients with best-of-breed, integrated systems management through CA-Unicenter, covering the broadest range of client/server systems," said Yogesh Gupta, CA senior vice president, product strategy. "The Alpha family of systems under Digital UNIX is an integral part of the multi-vendor environments for which we provide uniform management tools."
"Combining the robustness of CA-Unicenter's industry-leading systems management with the speed and flexibility of the Alpha 64-bit architecture brings UNIX customers a powerful and comprehensive client/server management environment," said Don Harbert, vice president for Digital's UNIX Business Systems Segment. "The integration of CA-Unicenter with POLYCENTER Manager on NetView offers these clients a closely integrated network and systems management solution for complex computing environments."
CA-Unicenter for Digital UNIX and the integration of CA-Unicenter with Digital's POLYCENTER Manager on NetView will both be at UNIX Expo at Digital's Booth no.534.
