Ballard Medical Products reports expansion into Pocatello, Idaho
Business Wire, Sept 22, 1995
DRAPER, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1995--Ballard Medical Products (NYSE:BMP) announced its intent to expand its manufacturing facilities into Pocatello, Idaho.
Ballard is negotiating for the acquisition of a tract of approximately 20 acres of land from Idaho State University ("ISU"). Upon acquisition of this land, Ballard will begin construction of a manufacturing plant (approx. 100,000 square feet) on the site, at an estimated total development and construction cost of $7 million to $8 million. This new facility should accommodate Ballard's growth into the foreseeable future.
This expansion is necessitated, in part, by low unemployment rates in Salt Lake County and surrounding areas of Utah. Ballard has adequate land in Draper to accommodate future sales growth, but cannot look to the Wasatch Front to provide labor needed to meet Ballard's anticipated sales growth in the near term.
Ballard estimates that 100 jobs will be created upon the opening of this facility, with additional growth to occur in subsequent months. Ballard hopes to complete construction by June 1996.
Ballard appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the city of Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho Department of Commerce, and ISU, in assisting Ballard in its site selection process. Ballard looks forward to becoming part of Pocatello.
