Business Wire, Sept 25, 1995
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 1995-- Hewlett-Packard Company today introduced two new processor models to the popular HP NetServer LC Series -- the HP NetServer 5/75 LC and the HP NetServer 5/133 LC.
HP now offers a complete line of scaleable network servers that includes the Intel Pentium(tm)/133 processor and PCI bus architecture for the entry-level HP NetServer LC Series. These new product models are part of HP's commitment to deliver exceptional levels of performance, manageability and availability.
Both models feature PCI technology and the HP NetServer Navigator -- a bootable CD-ROM with easy-to-use tools for quick configuration, installation and easy server management.
"HP is the first in the industry to offer the Pentium/133MHz processor and PCI bus architecture in an entry-level server line," said Duncan Campbell, worldwide marketing manager for HP's Network Server Division. "By offering a comprehensive server system, HP proves it can deliver uncompromised levels of performance, uptime and manageability."
The HP NetServer LC Series is ideal for small- to medium-sized workgroups or remote offices for file, print and workgroup applications. The HP NetServer LC has the features and manageability found in HP's top midrange server series with price/performance that is ideal for the small-business environment. Standard system features include 16MB RAM for the 5/75 LC and 32MB RAM for the 5/133 LC, expandable to 192MB RAM; PCI bus increased I/O; integrated twin-channel Fast SCSI-2 controller; and 256KB write-back cache. In addition, all models will include a quad-speed CD-ROM drive.
Since its initial introduction, the HP NetServer LC has won awards from LAN Times and InfoWorld. InfoWorld awarded it "Product of the Year" for 1994 in the Test Center server category, and LAN Times dubbed it one of "The Best of Times" that same year. These awards are based on performance, implementation of standards, manageability and system availability.
The HP NetServer LC Series supports industry-leading network operating systems, including Banyan VINES, IBM OS/2 Warp and LAN Server, Microsoft(R) Windows NT Server, Novell NetWare, Novell UnixWare, and SCO OpenServer.

Also available are optional rack-mount solutions, which save customers valuable space in a multiserver environment.
Similar to the HP NetServer LH and LS Series, the HP NetServer LC Series has a built-in Automatic Server Restart and temperature monitoring for an even higher level of server uptime.
