New software platform enhances network management capabilities; MCI ServiceView Offers Greater Cost Savings, Increased Flexibility
Business Wire, Sept 28, 1995
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1995--MCI today launched an enhanced software applications platform that will enable business customers to better track and manage their MCI inbound and outbound services. MCI ServiceView represents the first low-cost, Windows-based network management tool of its kind in the industry.
Designed to eliminate the need to purchase multiple hardware and operating systems software, MCI ServiceView provides a standard platform from which customers can pick and choose the applications to best meet their needs. The service was designed for the average business user - most applications require only a standard Windows-based personal computer, modem and operating system.
"Businesses shouldn't have to invest considerable time, money and brainpower to effectively manage their network," says Brian Brewer, Vice President, MCI Business Marketing. "Our customers told us they want a low-cost, user-friendly, Windows-based set of applications - MCI ServiceView delivers."
MCI ServiceView provides a standard graphical user interface (GUI) to multiple network applications which can share a common display. Customers can access these different applications depending on their specific management needs:
Respond Immediately to Changing Business Needs
With MCI 800 Network Manager, customers can manage their 800 network configurations and route their 800 traffic dynamically to quickly respond to changing business needs. At a moment's notice, customers can change and implement up to 99 backup routing plans for immediate disaster recovery, or to reroute incoming calls based on inbound traffic patterns. This allows a business to achieve maximum productivity from its call centers and to provide the highest level of customer support. MCI 800 Network Manager permits the owner of an 800 number(s) to route an incoming call to one of many possible destinations, under many different circumstances to meet the changing needs of their call centers. As well, customers can continually and instantly change or delete the following 800 features:
-- Percentage Allocation Routing
-- Day of Week/Holiday Routing
-- Time Interval Routing
-- Tailor Call Coverage
-- Extended Call Coverage
-- Point of Call Routing
Faster and More Efficient Trouble Handling
MCI Direct Dispatch enables customers to immediately open, modify, close and track trouble tickets to significantly improve the entire trouble resolution process. By documenting trouble details precisely, inputting information directly into MCI's Customer Service Manager system and receiving resolution status every 15 minutes, MCI Direct Dispatch saves time and significantly improves customer service.
Quickly Identify and Repair Network Anomolies
Neither AT&T nor Sprint offer a low-cost, integrated alarm monitoring capability comparable to MCI Fault Manager. Via a spreadsheet graphical user interface, customers can identify alarms, view detailed descriptions such as circuit outages and performance degradation, monitor the overall quality of service and access recommendations to repair network anomalies.
In addition to these applications, MCI ServiceView offers a fully secure, user entry profile for order entry, fulfillment and security maintenance.
MCI ServiceView completes the establishment of a truly global ServiceView portfolio of customer network management tools across BT and MCI, for Concert products as well as all domestic products.
