Tandy Corp. reports August sales

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sept. 5, 1995--Tandy Corporation (NYSE: TAN) reported sales of its continuing U.S. and Canadian Retail Operations for the month of August 1995 were $443.8 million, a 27 percent increase compared to $349.3 million last year.
On a continuing comparable store basis, sales increased 7 percent over the prior year. Stores in the discontinued Tandy Name Brand division were excluded from the above sales results.
"The launch of Windows 95 was a complete success and exceeded our expectations. Both Computer City and Incredible Universe experienced excellent crowds at their midnight events and strong demand in the ensuing days gives us a positive outlook related to future computer demand," stated John V. Roach, chairman and chief executive officer of Tandy Corporation.
Tandy Corporation, one of the nation's largest retailers of consumer electronics, sells its products through approximately 6,700 Radio Shack(R), 80 Computer City(R), and 11 Incredible Universe(R) stores.
