EasyFile document management software enhances storage and retrieval features of Canon's GP Series; Documents easily archived to magnetic, optical, CD-R or tape storage media on the network
Business Wire, April 1, 1996
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1996--Further expanding the versatility of its popular GP Series Modular Document Imaging Systems, Canon U.S.A. Inc. has announced the availability of Rorke Data EasyFile(TM) software to its scanning solutions suite.
Based upon open systems standards, including Windows, ISIS, TCP/IP and SQL, the software utilizes an intuitive user interface to provide a complete turnkey archival, retrieval and document management solution.
"With the GP Series and EasyFile, users can now electronically capture and distribute documents more efficiently than ever before," said Robert Bryson, executive vice president and general manager of Canon's Imaging Systems Group. "The software is fully configurable to meet an organization's changing application needs. In addition, concern for physical storage space and maintenance of paper originals is virtually eliminated since the software supports a wide variety of storage media such as magnetic, optical, CD-R and tape."
EasyFile takes full advantage of the GP Series document distribution features of single or double-sided printing, sorting, stapling and faxing from a workstation. The hardware and software supports both single and multiple user configurations with defined upgrade and growth paths. With EasyFile, vast resources of information and document processing capability immediately become available to any network workstation. There is simplex and duplex scanning in black and white or 256 shades of gray, and support for Group III and Group IV TIFF.
Documents can be retrieved by using EasyFile's powerful search features. Convenient pull-down value menus allow fast access to documents. For more complex searches, EasyFile supports Boolean conditions, ranges and wild card expressions. Users can view one or more documents and have a variety of zooming, rotating and display options. The image can be rotated 90, 180 or 270 degrees from the original position. A Zoom In feature magnifies the image size 33 percent and a Zoom Out feature decreases the size of the displayed image 25 percent.
"Whether your needs require quick searching, or storage of thousands of documents and records, EasyFile addresses the need and saves critical time and overhead usually associated with traditional filing systems," said M. Michael Denley, division director, Rorke Data Inc. "This total network document management solution is designed to enhance workgroup productivity in any environment."
EasyFile Document Management Software will be available through authorized Canon dealers by the end of April. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
