Mock named managing director of Alcoa Italia

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 1996--Timothy S. Mock, 53, has been named managing director, Alcoa Italia, S.p.A., with responsibility for managing operation of the assets of Alumix S.p.A., Italy's former state-owned aluminum company, that were acquired by Alcoa on March 29. He will be based at Alcoa Italia headquarters in Milan.

Mock had been president of Alcoa's Wire, Rod and Bar business unit and operations manager of the company's plant at Massena, NY, until being selected in November, 1995 to head the transition team for the acquisition of the Alumix assets.

The Alcoa Italia operations include: two primary aluminum smelters at Portovesme and Fusina; a rolling mill at Fusina; four extrusion plants at Bolzano, Fossanova, Feltre and Iglesias; an extrusion die shop at Mori; six metal distributions centers in Italy; three administrative centers; and sales offices in Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Mock, born in Pittsburgh, began his Alcoa career at Cleveland Works in 1964 as an industrial engineer after graduating from Lehigh University. He became chief industrial engineer there in 1974 and transferred to Alcoa's Massena (NY) Operations as controller in 1978. In 1981 Mock was named controller, Flat-Rolled Products in Pittsburgh, and was later promoted to group controller-Packaging Systems. In 1987, Mock returned to Massena Operations to assume his most recent position.
