Siemens selects image processing systems to supply inspection and alignment systems for medical imaging monitors
Business Wire, April 2, 1996
SCARBOROUGH, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 1996--Image Processing Systems Inc. (CDN-IMPS) Tuesday announced that it has been selected by Siemens AG of Karlsruhe, Germany to supply Automated Display Inspection (ADI) systems.
The systems will be used to ensure stringent manufacturing standards for Siemens highest resolution medical imaging monitors.
These high resolution monitors, capable of 2000 x 2000 resolution, are a critical part of Siemens' Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems and are also used for CatScan, X-ray and other imaging applications with very high resolution requirements. Siemens has placed an initial order with Image Processing Systems Inc. (IPS) for ADI systems valued at $230,000.
"Without doubt, this is one of the most demanding applications for our technology that we've faced to date," said Terry Graham, president, IPS. "Of a number of suppliers that Siemens evaluated, IPS proved to be the only one capable of meeting their exacting standards."
Graham explained that IPS customized its ADI system to connect directly to the digital interface of the Siemens high resolution monitor.
The ADI system creates a fully automated "closed-loop" system, that eliminates the need for an operator, aligning the monitor by interfacing with the built-in microprocessor controls, adjusting a number of parameters such as focus, brightness and geometry as well as providing viewpoint correction for the shape and refraction of the glass of the picture tube.
IPS develops and manufactures proprietary machine vision systems used for automated inspection and quality verification in specialized industrial markets.
The company's ADI systems are used worldwide in factories of major electronics manufacturers including Philips, IBM, Mitsubishi, Daewoo, Zenith, Thomson, RCT Sharp, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, International Electronics, and Caihong Electronics for the inspection and alignment of picture tubes, televisions and computer monitors.
Founded in 1987, IPS trades on the Canadian Dealing Network (Symbol IMPS) in Toronto, Canada. -0- "Experts In Machine Vision Technology"
