Worldtalk Ships Enhanced Version of Leading Internet Connector for Microsoft Mail; Added features provide for easier Internet e-mail administration
Business Wire, April 29, 1996
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1996--To meet the demand for easier Internet e-mail access, Worldtalk Corp., a leading developer of Network Application Router software products for e-mail and directory services connectivity, today announced the availability of NetConnex 4.0.
This new version of Worldtalk's high-performance Internet mail connector for Microsoft Mail now features User Alias Manager, giving administrators a powerful tool for Internet address management and Dial-on-Demand, providing flexible Internet dial-up capabilities.
Worldtalk's User Alias Manager allows administrators to set a consistent Internet naming convention for all Microsoft Mail users; i.e. firstname.lastname@company.com. In addition to saving costs internally, the ability to locate individuals within an organization by using familiar formats reduces the amount of time spent researching name and address information.
"NetConnex 4.0 has given me tremendous flexibility over the Internet addresses I assign to my Microsoft Mail users," said Arty Lench of ARTTECH Systems, a messaging systems consultant firm in New York. "I was able to easily load more than 750 users into the User Alias Manager. It was a simple set up and it is easy to maintain."
"The lack of a consolidated directory service on the Internet makes features like Worldtalk's User Alias Manager very important," said Sathvik Krishnamurthy, director of product marketing, Worldtalk Corp. "By controlling the consistency of their e-mail addresses, companies can make the process of sending e-mail over the Internet much more efficient than it is today. This will significantly reduce delivery failures and alleviate the often painful process of figuring out e-mail addresses."
The NetConnex Dial-on-Demand feature is a flexible dial up capability that allows Internet connections to be established automatically, at preset intervals. This allows administrators to maximize their connect-time efficiency while providing them with control over when and how often e-mail is sent and retrieved from their Internet Service Provider.
NetConnex
Versatile, reliable and easy-to-install, NetConnex allows users of Microsoft Mail to easily send and receive messages, multimedia documents and file attachments among users on the Internet, users of public e-mail services such as America Online, CompuServe, and Prodigy and users of UNIX-based e-mail systems.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for Microsoft's existing MS-DOS-based SMTP gateway as well as for users of Windows NT-based Microsoft Mail Server version 3.2 and 3.5, NetConnex provides full Simple Mail Transport Protocol/Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extension (SMTP/MIME) capability. This ensures bi-directional delivery of multimedia electronic mail and file attachments among Internet-based and Internet-connected electronic mail systems.
NetConnex is also fully inter-operable with the forthcoming Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Connector.
NetConnex is fully SMTP, as well as MIME compliant and does not require additional hardware for SMTP relay hosts. It supports message tunneling over the Internet and converts message body and text attachments among a wide variety of international character sets.
Those interested in evaluating NetConnex 4.0 can download the program from Worldtalk's Web page, http://www.worldtalk.com, for a free 30-day trial. In addition, Worldtalk's customer service help line is available to trial users during the 30-day period.
NetConnex 4.0 is available directly from Worldtalk Corp. and through its Business Partners and Microsoft Solution Providers. NetConnex 4.0 is sold internationally through Worldtalk distributors and resellers. For more information, contact Worldtalk at 800/454-4674.
