Intelligent Electronics Teams with Hitachi PC to Bring "Mobilized Computing" to Corporate America; Integrated Communications Features of Hitachi Notebooks Give Users and IS Professionals Alike Greater Control Over Internal and External Network Access
Business Wire, April 29, 1996
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1996--Hitachi PC Corporation today announced that Intelligent Electronics, a leading nationwide network of computer resellers and systems aggregators, will represent its new communications-centric notebook computers to corporations throughout the country.
Hitachi has taken a unique approach to fully integrated communications and support that it calls "mobilized computing" because it allows mobile professionals to better access, manage and control information no matter where they are. Last week the company also announced that it has signed Ingram Micro and Tech Data as distributors in preparation for its May product launch.
"Corporate workstyles are undergoing a major paradigm shift," said Fred Angelopoulos, Hitachi PC's vice president of sales, "and Hitachi PC intends to be the leader of that new paradigm. In today's world, speed of information rules. That puts incredible strain on IS professionals. We believe that Intelligent Electronics, with its extensive network of technical experts, integrators and vertical market specialists, will play a key role in making us true partners with the IS professionals of corporate America."
Hitachi Notebooks are especially critical for business professionals who routinely find themselves working down the hall, across town, after hours at home, or across the country. The new notebooks will integrate key communications features including easy access to email, Internet, corporate intranets and databases, faxing and paging. Some models also include a built-in, local-area network interface.
"With the market for notebooks growing at a 25 percent annual rate and many manufacturers experiencing supply constraints on their most desirable models, this relationship will allow Intelligent Electronics and its resellers to better meet the needs of our customers," said Tim Jeffries, vice president of marketing at Intelligent Electronics. "We are pleased to be distributing Hitachi's full line of notebooks and accessories, and anticipate a long and fruitful relationship."
