Business Wire, April 3, 1996

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 1996-- Colorado Springs Cablevision, a Century Communications company, and the Gazette Telegraph, published by Freedom Communications, and IT Network, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Source Media, Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS:SRCM), have announced plans to launch IT Network's Interactive Channel this fall. The Interactive Channel will be available to Cablevision's 105,000 customers and will provide local and national programming customized to the Colorado Springs market 24 hours a day.

The Interactive Channel will deliver shopping and games as well as regularly updated news, weather and sports. Viewers will be able to make airline reservations, sample music CDs, and hear soap opera updates. Through the Interactive Channel's Teacher's Assistance Program, viewers will also have access to information such as school lunches, homework assignments, and student projects. The Gazette Telegraph will present its local news and local TV listings will also be available. All of these time-saving services will be contained on a single cable channel that is easy to access using a remote control. The principals emphasized that they plan to make the Channel available this fall on a commercial basis, while many other new media ventures are still in trial phase. The Interactive Channel will be available to Cablevision customers as a premium service beginning fall, 1996 at a monthly charge of $6.95.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our customers the Interactive Channel, particularly since the programming is customized to serve the needs of our community, offering something of value to all members of the family," said Bill Shreffler, Century Communication's Western Division Vice President. "We expect this channel to become a key source of information and entertainment for our customers on a daily basis."

Said Chris Anderson, Publisher of the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph, "This venture means that the high quality local news and information presently available to our readers through the print newspaper will now be accessible through another familiar source: the television set. At any hour of the day customers can get information and make purchases without ever leaving the living room."

"Our agreements with Century and the Gazette Telegraph represent the 'new era' in cable programming/cable operator relations," said John J. Reed, President of the Interactive Channel. "This team is delivering the promise of a 'wired' online community, today, over television."

Source Media is a leader in the Interactive programming and service industry. Source Media's Interactive Channel, an online television browser and programming service, is capable of delivering interactive news, weather, sports, shopping and educational services on demand over today's cable systems. Source Media currently distributes its interactive telephone service in over 50 major U.S. markets and is beginning to provide its interactive programming and services over online personal computer services and the Internet.
