Security Service Federal Credit Union to become the newest Western Pacific "Logo Jet"

Business Wire, April 30, 1996

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996-- Western Pacific Airlines, the Colorado Springs-based, low fare carrier, and San Antonio-based Security Service Federal Credit Union, announced today (Tuesday, April 30) that the credit union will sponsor the airline's eighth "logo jet" and become the official credit union of Western Pacific.

The bright blue and white jet bears the credit union's name and mottos: "The Security You Need" and "The Service You Want." Adorned with a blue star on the tail and one on the fuselage, the newest logo jet takes personal finances to a different level -- the sky.

With the introduction of the "logo jet," Western Pacific also announced that Security Service will become the official credit union of the airline and that the companies hope to share space in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Denver area malls. A WestPac flight store with reservation desk would occupy half of the area while the credit union would utilize the rest.

"We are very excited about our newest `logo jet' and our relationship with Security Service Federal Credit Union," said WestPac's vice president of human resource, Glenn Goldberg. "The SSFCU jet is an example of how our employees benefit from the `air logo' program. We are proud to be included in Security Service's field of membership and we look forward to growing with them."

Security Service Federal Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the country, is a $1.1 billion federal credit union with home offices in San Antonio, Texas, and branch offices in Uvalde, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colo,; and Pueblo, Colo. It serves over 265,000 members in all 50 states and 22 foreign countries. The credit union will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.

"We are honored to be a part of Western Pacific's `air logo' program," said Steven Harms, president, Security Service. "We feel that our `logo jet' is something that all of our members can be proud of. We anticipate providing `log jet' checks, credit cards and other paraphernalia to our members. And, we are happy to have Western Pacific as the newest member of our family."

Western Pacific is known for its "air logo" program in which the airline sells advertising space on the exterior of its planes.

The "air logo" program has gained national and international recognition. The program continues to develop with the introduction of the Security Service Federal Credit Union aircraft. There are currently eight "logo jets." These includes FOX-TV's "The Simpsons" cartoon family, the Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Technical University, the City of Colorado Springs, Thrifty Car Rental, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association/ProRodeo Hall of Fame and the Las Vegas Stardust Resort and Casino.

Western Pacific's reservation system is a "ticketless" system. Reservations can be made by calling 800-930-3030 or through travel agents. Using a personal identification number, travelers find check-in quick and easy.
