Seagate Software, Storage Management Group First to Receive the Microsoft BackOffice Logo for Microsoft Exchange Server Data Protection; Seagate Backup Exec for Microsoft Exchange Server Module Ensures Reliable and Cost-Effective Backup for Users of Microsoft BackOffice
Business Wire, April 30, 1996
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996--Seagate Software, Storage Management Group (SMG), the combination of Arcada Software and Palindrome, today announced that its Seagate Backup Exec for Microsoft Windows NT Server module for Microsoft Exchange Server is the first Microsoft Exchange backup product to receive the Microsoft BackOffice Logo.
"We are pleased that Seagate Software continues to provide reliable, integrated backup for Windows NT Server and BackOffice," said Rob Shurtleff, general manager, Microsoft Exchange Server connectivity at Microsoft Corp. "Through its development of the Exchange Server backup utility, and with its receipt of the first BackOffice Logo for Exchange Server backup, Seagate provides users with reliable data protection for Microsoft Exchange."
Seagate Backup Exec for Windows NT module for Microsoft Exchange Server provides automated client/server functionality for the integration of Microsoft Exchange Server backup into existing network backup routines. As a result, customers are afforded a cost-effective and comprehensive solution for total network backup.
Rather than incurring the expense of performing and maintaining separate backup procedures, network managers can utilize the new module to schedule backups for Microsoft Exchange Server to occur at the same time as their regular network backups. Managers also can reduce their media costs and administration overhead because the module's integrated functionality allows Microsoft Windows NT based network data and Microsoft Exchange Server data to be backed up on a single tape.
"As the leading provider of Microsoft BackOffice data protection solutions, we are pleased to offer customers the first backup product to receive the Microsoft BackOffice Logo for Microsoft Exchange Server," said Dave Krinker, Windows NT business unit director at Seagate Software, SMG. "As the newest addition to our integrated Microsoft BackOffice-based data protection strategy, the module for Microsoft Exchange Server demonstrates our commitment to making total network backup simple and affordable."
The Seagate Backup Exec for Windows NT module for Microsoft Exchange Server will be available concurrently with Microsoft Exchange Server and will sell for an MSRP of $695 per backup server.
