CLARiiON and Tech Data announce strategic partnership offering RAID solution to NT environments; Will resell Series 100 Model C150 disk arrays with mirrored write cache memory

SOUTHBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1996-- The CLARiiON Business Unit of Data General Corporation, the leader in RAID disk array storage solutions, and Tech Data Corporation today announced that Tech Data will distribute and support the CLARiiON Series 100, Model C150 disk arrays.
"Our high-performance disk arrays are a powerful yet economical solution for PC-level client/server environments," said Larry Hemmerich, vice president and general manager of the CLARiiON Business Unit. According to IDC analysts, the worldwide market for NT servers in 1995 was $955 million and expected to grow to $1.58 billion in 1996. "With the explosion of NT in the marketplace, the agreement with Tech Data to become a strategic partner will benefit both companies by combining CLARiiON award winning storage subsystems with Tech Data's 50,000 VARs and retailers throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America."

The CLARiiON Series 100, Model C150 disk array offers an economical storage solution for low-end UNIX and PC servers in demanding environments requiring high availability and high performance. Available in both deskside and rackmount configurations, the Model C150 has the capacity for growth up to 28 GB of disk space and has a range of 8 MB to 32 MB of write cache memory, using commodity PCMCIA technology commonly found in laptop computers. The new CLARiiON C150 mirrored cache memory board contains 2 MB of RAM and a battery that maintains continuous power for 13 months. CLARiiON is one of few vendors that provide this type of protection.
